hi guys , I started out with a project where I have to burn up a character based on his distance from an object (kind of like that effect in the movie Constantine, where some winged demon characters burn up )…so I turned to mayas general utilities nodes ,in particular the distance between and point on surface nodes to get the effect …I was successful with using the distance between node but kind off got stuck up while incorporating the point on surface….
The surface shape’s world inverse Matrix[0] was connected via connection editor to the distance between nodes in Matrix1,& I also connected a samplerinfo nodes Point World to the distance betweens point1,then clamped the output information from the distance between and then connected the clamps output R to the V Cord of a ramp….if any one knows how to work the point on surface node or an other way to approach this effect ,it would be helpful to me ….thanks
