I have just had a go at a 1 hr speed paint over a panoramic image, it is not groundbreaking or jaw dropping I just wanted to do a subtle paint within a hour. I am pleased with what i achieved. I am trying to refine my skills and to stop overdetailing everything. For interest the location is called the Devils Punchbowl in Surrey, England.

Nice. This is your best matte! Could we see the original plate?

nice one indeed, it look s very beliavable , but here are some issues you should work about to make it pefect, the focal node, in this case the house, has very bad cuts in its edge, some bad cuts or blur cuts, also its details are too soften , pay attention to detail and work on it more, the true artist is defined by this ..

Thank you Jaime,

Yes you are right the detail is kind of lost will look at that in future. I shot the plate f22 so the details must be clearer. I have a annoying habit of over detailing. I went on a studio tour and had a look at the sets and backdrops i noticed that they were highly detailed the artist had used just enough information for your mind to make up the rest. This was why I restricted my time to just an hour. Hopefully I will get better in time.

This is the background plate that was used for the matte. I used a panoramic technique that i use for architectural photography and then hand stitched the images to create a panorama. Trees are a nightmare as they ternd to move in the wind mid shot. So you have to be patient and wait for it to be calm. The camera exposure and focus (set to infinity) are locked then using the 360 degree markings i move the camera every 5 degrees. Trick is to do it quickly as clouds and light will ruin your shot and create banding.

Hopefully i will get more time to create more background plates for me to paint over.

Best regards

Rich.
