Title: Tadao Ando, Church in Ibaraki, Japan
Name: Markus Groeteke
Country: Germany
Software: FormZ, Maxwell Render, Photoshop

Although this architectural masterpiece by the great architect Tadao Ando is a quite popular subject in the archviz area, I decided to do my own version. I reconstructed the geometry as accurately a s possible in formZ, built custom concrete textures in Photoshop, including normal maps (taking as references the project drawings and lots of photos) and finally rendered it with Maxwell Render. Only a bit of Photoshop afterwork was necessary, mostly tonal mapping.

Looks good. Nice render.

I think that the harsh light that is coming through the horizontal opening of the croos should be start directly from the joining of the right wall (of the image) and the croos wall.

if you observe the detail you will see that the light scattering ends at a certain point too. the reason is in the surrounding wall of the building which stops the light entering at that point.
