Hi everyone,

I was pretty upset I could not finish the mhn challenge, but I really enjoyed it.

It teached me some new techniques and re-opened the pleasure for matte painting.

I'm now on a small personal project that I'm doing during my luch breaks and I could surely use your advice to make it work.

here is the original:

and here is where I'm at the moment:

...I have a strange feeling about the borders of the buildings...and don't warry, I know it's not finished :D.

I will replace the tornados soon, I'm duing some in 3D to be able to animate them later.

The Buildings are going to receive soon some damage, for the moment I did not have time tu ruin them....

apart from this....do you have any suggestion?

Thanks.

Hal

Hi, nice job Hal
I'm new here, i was to take part of nhm challenge but i was not because i didn't have time to
I think you should erase shadows on building and give it a bad visibility aspect, as if it were taken in the bad weather, actually it seems like the sun is still shining
You could make the water more agitated too (without the boat) and add some wet reflections on the coating of the carpark to the foreground

Hi Halford, my suggestion would be that the clouds look too high altitude and not low and heavy enough to warrant those tornadoes. The colour looks good but the forms don't line up with the twisters. When I look at tornado reference the clouds are really ominous mothership type affairs. Something that stood out to me anyway.

Great image keep going!

cheers,

markg
