Title: Sybillin Witch dark
Name: Mikaël Aguirre
Country: France
Software: Photoshop
Done with a photo reference (photomanipulation) and massive digital painting on that.
I wanted to touch this 70's feeling from some scifi/fantasy picture. The really contrasted and pale skin help to give a dead aspect, as much as a sens of gravity to the image. Hair try to add some movement. Critics are welcome.

Extremely beautiful, and I really love the ghostly athmosphere you gave her, very well done indeed!
May I just point out that there is a big difference between 'photomanipulation' (which you say you used here) and 'photo reference' (which you mention in the same sentence)? I see a lot of confusion on this, but (at least IMO) photoreference is to reference a photo like you would do if it where a live model (just like many traditional artists do, as well), while photomanipulation is to take a photo and work on it as if it were the first step of the work...
...or am I confused?

Yes, in my case, there is in fact a confusion cause Deviantart don't like the idea of basing a work on an other commercial work and i had problems with that so i'm saying "reference". The subtility is really thin. The fact is that if i directly add manipulation to the original image, it's bad. What i'm doing is actually to manipulate the original photo to make my own reference, on wich i can draw.

I see, thank you for explaining.:)
I just mentioned this because I see 'photo-reference' mentioned in a lot of places where 'photo-manipulation' is meant instead (BTW there is nothing wrong with photomanipulation either, so long as copyright is respected, in my view).
Anyway, four stars from me, and I'm looking forward to see more of your works.
