View Full Version : Electronic microscope effect!!
Uyanum 03-19-2003, 03:03 PM Hey everybody!
i'm stuck with a problem.
I'm trying to make a simple Microbe picture but i can't seem to get that nice 'electronic microscope effect'..!
I've got a tutorial for lightwave but i'm using 3d Studio Max 5.
Do i need to make a texture / shader to get that nice effect..?
if yes.., how or where can it get it..?!
Greetz Uyanum.
p.s. if you have no idea what it is i'm taking about.. here's a picture i got of the internet.. I'm trying to get the same effect in 3ds Max.

I don't really have any specifics to say on this.. search on google and I'm sure you can find tutorials? I know I've seen some around.. there's a gigantic tutorial-sticky-thread for you to go over.
I know the fresnel effect is put to good use in these kinds of images, to get those glowy odd edges. That, and Depth of Field :)
play with the falloff material a little :)

I'm not sure of the author, but I believe it was Neil Blevin. Anyway, he made a finalRender material for electron microscope texture. If you dont have finalRender I can try to recreate the texture using a combination of the finalRender material converter utility and tweaking it to work as a standard material if you want.
Hi there!
here is the link http://www.niklasindustries.com/tutorials/tut_virus.htm
it will work the same for 3dmax!
Have fun
