View Full Version : Object: Viking helmet
Oktavian 03-19-2003, 10:38 AM A typical Viking's helmet which could be found in many archaeological excavations in whole Europe (between 8. - 12. century).
The helmet is done with splines and the chains to protect the neck are hundrets of tori. Because of Max4 raytraceshadows are not smooth I have faked it a bit.

Well!
Good stuff but i would see more realistic lighting. Some HDRI enviroment:)
The fabric is not to good because the fallof material.
The chain part is to "flat" for me.
The plexi holder material is good but the bottom part does not cast shadow.

When I first saw the top part of the image I thought it was some kind of luminous crystal-- not shiny metal! It would definitely help if you moved the lighting around some.

too bright. btw, isn't the viking helmet the one that has horns sticking out? i thought this was the typical helmet, because vikings were considered primitive to everyone else, and i'm not exactly sure how they were able to make those back then...
