Can you make a bump map from a normal map, as in convert from a normal...
I have a mesh in mudbox that when I extract the disp map, it comes out messed up...
I managed to extract the normals for it and they are fine, no weird streaks, so If I can covert it into a bump map I could use this as my disp map and save re doing the whole thing..
Any ideas?

Can't convert a normalmap into an accurate displacement map, but you can get an approximation. Try CrazyBump (http://www.crazybump.com/).
