How do I make artwork for a coin?

considering that coins are cast, you need to carve the item first. barring playing with wax or metal, maybe mudbox could help you there?

From what I understand, all you need to produce is a basic 2d shaded image from which the company will sculpt the 3d version to create the die for coin production.
