Has anyone had any formidable success using Maya with the 3d post features That Combustion can read out of a RPF? I've been seeing some really cool stuff done with extreme ease in post coming from Max renders in c2...however I'm not going to switch to Max just for that...

Can Maya write out usable necessary data to RLA/RPF? Is there a way to fudge the data coming into c2 (say with multiple passes)? Are there any plugins?

no plug-ins that i've seen, have you tried discreet? Max's renderer churns out a whole load more data per-frame than Maya's (actually makes it really really really easy for writing a render plug-in!).

All I can suggest is use shake instead!

The G buffer only works with 3dsmax. If Discreet themselves had fully accepted the format then other people might have implemented it in their compositors fully. Combustion is the only app that actually can use that data(FFI doesnt use it because the people at discreet say that there isnt enough demand for it, lame!). Then discreet only makes the sdk for rpf/rla available if you buy 3dsmax/combustion. Again, another lame.
