well I figured I would do one of those post as I go things to get feedback during the different stages of development. This model is going to be for my reel. I want it to give of a final fantasyesque type feel. I've always been a big fan of the games so I thought it would be fun to do something along that style. Anyway this is a quick sketch and color concept. The sketches look a little better but I wanted to try out the tablet. I think it gets the idea across thought. Comments are more than welcome. I'll try and post a few more concepts this week and start modeling later next week. Enjoy

Hey nice style :), its very final fantasy imo,
2 things though, im not a fan of the hat, i think a really cool hair style would be alot better, also the straps on the right leg could flow be against the leg isntead of hanging loose

personally I love that dopehat. :)
but as The Dude (Lukashi) said, the straps on the leg... make 'em a bit more tight around the knee when you model it.
waiting for those other concepts :)

ok yeah i agree about the straps, that will be fixed...as for the hat, I have mixed feelings about it as well. Some ppl like and other say it looks weird...I guess i could do a version with and one without. It wouldn't add to much time onto it. Thanks for the comments.

been really busy with other classes lately so I haven't had much time for this but here is an update color concept. I tried to limit the palette down more which I think works a little better. Once I get all the reference collected modeling will start which I hope to be by wednesday or so.

hehe yeah I actually didn't intent to have those showing...they won't be in the 3d model. I'm trying to stay away from that kinda stuff now. I think it's gotten a bit to generic. Thanks for all the kind words though. I'm definately going to start modeling this next week. I'll try to update regularly although it will probably be pretty slow going as I'm trying to help a friend develop a muscle skinning system to work with her as well as a FF:spirits within quality shader for the skin. Glad everyone likes the concept so far.

WOW shes beautiful , but on a more technical note, her coler looks like its about to fall off, theres nothing but the tie supporting it, and in battle its bound to fly off

well I was finally able to get some sort of modeling done on this. The upper torso is pretty much finished. The stomach and lower back still need some work but I think they are starting to get there. I don't really expect to get to many comments yet but I wanted to at least get something up. This is probably somewhere around 5-6 hours worth. Anyway hopefully I can get most of the torso done by the end of the week and then start on the extremeties.

update. Torso and limbs are finished for the most part minus some minor tweaking that I'll get to later. Probably going to start on the head next. As always comments are encouraged.

Looks good, very detailed. Only comment I have is that the concept sketches appear to be a young woman whereas the model, although very well detailed, looks like that of a much older woman. Looks a little chubby vs the thin character concept. Etc...

I love the design, and the pattern has very good spot. This very detailed one, but I agree with to Cynical_Saint in him that it seems the body of a mature woman. Maybe you should narrow the waist a little and to take care of the proportions of the legs (and if you enhanced him a little the ass he/she would thank it to you infinitely). But anyway it is even soon to see the general aspect. I am impatient to see the future progresses of your work. Beautiful character. :p

Hmm yeah I agree that she does look older than the concepts. I think the main reason I've ended up going that way is just that younger girls tend to be pretty generic looking as far as the figure goes and I wanted to try get away from the cliche' female look that gets posted alot here. I'm open to suggestions though. If I continue on this route she is going to end up being around 25 or so and look like a 'normal' person you might see walking around, except for the clothes. Do you think it would be interesting to have something like that or would it be better to go back closer to the origional design?

Started on the head. It still has along way to go but I'm hoping to get it done in the next day or two. Anywho just a small update.

she looks like a guy :-p

yeah I think the flatness of the cheeks are causing it to look a little like that. Those will be fixed...still has a ways to go.

I would definitely like to see her closer to the original concept drawings, as the young punk :)
Good work, can't wait to see more!

She's looking a bit wide in 3d so far???

The tall slender, slouchy look in the sketch isn't carrying through just yet... IMO.

Awesome character, can't wait to see finished.
