View Full Version : Pupil on an Eye - HOW???

Greetings all. I hope you can help me out with this??

I want to create a set of miss-shaped eyes - thats the easy part.

Next I create a two thin cylinders and deform it to the surfaces of each eye via deform by surface so to make the pupils for the eyes.

Next I set up the contrainst to nulls.. etc so the pupils will follow the nulls when moved,.....

But the pupils / cylinders either don't move or fly off somewhere, or go funny shapes instead of staying in a round shape for the pupil shape slapped on to the cylinder via the deform....

I hope I've been clear enough with my problem and I really hope someone can help..

I'm using XSI v2.03....... Thanks:hmm:

the pupils local space is deformed to the surface of the eye balls so constraining them to nulls and moving the nulls is a bit contradictory

-perhaps mishape the eyes with a lattice then direction constrain the eyes to the null, (make sure the latticeis not achild of the eyes so it does not rotate with the eye

or other methods:

-shrinkwrap deform the disc to the sphere and parent the deformed disc to the target disc, parent the target to the deformee surface, and anim the rotate of the target to get the pupil to move

or

-constrain to surface is a little like deform by surface which can also work here but requires nurbs UV
to animate possition of pupil using constrain to surface check on normal and anim the UV location

or

-animate a texture support of a pupil texture
