Title: Collision Deformation on solid objects
Name: Hemn Habib
Country: Sweden
Software: Digital Fusion, Maya, mental ray, Photoshop
A car model I used in a short animation, it was a study on deforming solid objects in Maya. I used a combination of two dynamic objects; ncloth and rigid bodies, the animation is simulated dynamically from the collision and further on.
Here is an URL to the animation movie:

Yeah, the wheels make it look unrealistic. Before they came off it looked like a pretty slick animation. Try and get video of car crashes and slow it down to see what happens. I don't think Dynamics would properly simulate all the factors and forces involved in a car hitting a solid object anyway.
Good work over all though, it just looks like an RC car with plastic axles at the moment :)

when you see frame by frame you can see that it looks like it hits two times on the wall.
and i also think it wouldn't break apart all wheels
beside that it's really cool
nice work

I Have To Agree On The Other Comments. I Think Maybe The Front Passenger Tire Would Come Off, But Not The Others. Also, You Might Want To Work On The Way The Car Slides When It Turns Around The Barriers. Looks A Little Odd. Too Much Slide Maybe. Other Than That It Looks Great. Sorry About The Caps! (caps Lock Was On, Didn't Notice 'til I Was Almost Done Typing)

Hi guys..
I'm actually aware of the lack parts in the movie, especially the things mentioned here, not to be whining but this was a study, due to a deadline and stuff. Even the render needs work, different passes, and some compositig etc... May be in future I'll fix them. But thx anyway for your nice crits.
