Using 10 and occasionally 9.6 as needed. Mainly for older files in which the client needs a change. The new animation system in 10 messes up previously keyframed files in some instances.

9.6 with all plugins.

Slowly transitioning to 10, there's a few things in there that unnecessarily got shifted around which are still an annoyance vs some things that are a welcome change.

Sorry you weren't asking for a review were you?

R10.1 All the time.
Although I think I'll intall R9.6 again. Sometimes it is handy if you want to help somebody who does not have R10.1.

Peace,

still loving version 6, have tried the newer versions, but my workflow fits me in version 6, so I see no need to upgrade. I am using 3d studio at work which feels bloated so its nice to come home to version 6 which is just a great workhorse

9.6, will upgrade to 10 soon. But I said that a while ago. I got as far as speaking with Raffi about the upgrade...soon.

However, for the first time ever with any major software I use, I may keep 9.6 on my computer when I install 10, even if I have to buy another hard-drive. This workstaion is getting old, the HD getting full even with backups and removal.

I'm using 9.6 and 10, 10 most of the time.
I use 9.6 for the old content browser, which Maxon did away with in r10. The content browser in 10 is way too slow and cumbersome to be of any use to me at all. I need a fast and functional browser for my workflow. I'd rather use 10 full-time though.

Anyone out there have any useful r10 Content Browser suggestions???????
It would be great if I were simply overlooking something.

R.10 Studio plus MoGraph for all my own stuff.
9.6 held in reserve for some older plugin functions and making sample help files for Cafe members.

R9.6 here, until a new machine is in the budget. OGL issues, along with a puny machine by today's standards.

v10.1 plus hair, dynamics, add-the-sea, spline-patch, fusion-thing, drop-it-pro

...but 9.6 still around to check bugs and other strangeness....I think I also have 9 and 8 around somewhere on an external HD as well but for no apparent reason....

I tried hard to use Max at work, because I had to evaluate between it and C4D because that is what I use, so there was obvious bonuses with having familiarity.

I tried and forced myself to like Max but I couldn't. Max has great features and awesome open platform to build plugins.... a lot of which I want to see in C4D which may not come to fruition... so let's see C4D saturate the market so we can see some benefits of a larger install base ;)

Hi Fling !! I love to drive beautiful oldtimers -
like the 8.5 model ;-)

Did not find a truely convincing reason for R10 yet for
my purposes - and dont want to loose Meshsurgery.

A reason for upgrading would be a new sophisticated toolset tailored for industrial design.

I'm on Vs 8.5. For what I do there's no need to update to Vs 10, although I did pre-order vRay, so using that will mean upgrading to 10 also... The only useful thing to me in Vs 10 is perhaps nGons.
Perhaps someone could tell me what were the major features of upgrade 9 and upgrade 10?
Bearing in mind I don't do animation.

I'm on 9.1 with AR, Mocca, PhyroCluster and ThinkingParticles. I don't think that I will update if there are no major changes to the render system.

If there is one maxplug that I really want in c4d it´s that pro booleans, especially the pro cutter part. It looks really cool.

I agree, lets flood the market. :)

I don't like max, but we use autodesk products across the line, integrating cinema is a hassle without proper dwg import.
Tried asking my boss for the engineering package, but we already are paying lots of money in subscriptions to autodesk so I guess I am stuck in 3d studio

Nothing in V10 thats interesting for me and too costly to upgrade.

R10.1 with all modules: plugs:: quickpipe, advanced Atom, riptide.
I also have r9.6 as a backup to open old jenna dependent files.

R10 took a few days to get used too but after a bit of repetition, I quickly grew to like it...

Expensive hobby i guess.
9.1, 9.6 as relics, 10.1 with s&t, ar, (and from 9.5) mograph and hair.

At the moment i'm just moving vertexes with 10.1 because i'm in a bit of a creative dip and work takes a little too mich time.

I am still using 8.5 with no modules though a few plugins, including Fast & Fur, Jenna, Wireshader.

Thanks

I usually need an economic reason to upgrade - ie a paying project that needs a new feature. So far that hasn't happened. Also my old graphics card will probably not be terribly happy with the wizzy openGL features. Maybe when I get an Octocore Mac with a decent graphics card, I would really appreciate the improvement.

Still on 8.5 Bundle, Shave, S&T, all the plugins [except DiTools].

Zbrush has changed my workflow. But I'll upgrade to 10 eventually. Just don't have an incentive [ie: project that requires it] or any interest in r10 at the moment.

Maybe after I get a full grasp of Zbrush 3......

I am still on 8.5 and S&T. Since the kids arrived, my extra dosh goes on barbie dolls and nappies. ;)

I am thinking of upgrading to R10 as I am worried I might not be able upgrade due to being so far back on releases.

8.5 Bundle, + BP 2.

Shifted money to digital photography studio equipment, and adding software upgrades such as Syntheyes, and After Effects, both of which are very afforable to upgrade, even if you skip a couple versions. AE in particular, you can upgrade from a range from 4.x - 6.x to 7 for the same price. Makes it easy to jump back in and keep users in the fold.

R8.2 still and it still kicks ass, Love the R10 version and the new animation/rigging stuff but without being able to export animated stuff to any useful game formats the reason for me upgrading becomes void (still using the $15 characterfx to animate my models) if they supported animated export to some decent formats that I could get into game formats I'd upgrade yesterday!! ;)

im using 9.6 and have 10.1(all mac always!)which im slowly transitioning too...what im seeing in this thread(and hopefully maxon too)is that users are giving their loyalty to the app, but havent used or upgraded because of signifigant shortcomings(i.e. AR/materials/format support/pricing/etc.)with the software and unhappiness with pricing structures. I would imagine this might provide some valuable insight into how they may approach their next upgrades-it would be in thier best interest after all. As for me im very happy with the software, but agree AR needs an upgrade along with a livepaint function in BP(modo style) and patch modeling(LW style).

Thats what I am waiting for - the spline-patch plugin for Cinema did not fulfill my expectations but it has recently been updated . . . images/buttons/reputation.gif (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=4453382#)
