Hello all,
Well it’s getting to be that time of the year again – time to start
thinking of the SIGGRAPH conference! This year it is in San Diego from
August 5-9. Are you planning to attend? Are you ready? Whether this
is your first or 15th conference, let DC_SIGGRAPH help you prepare for
this event.
Join DC_SIGGRAPH for an informal gathering to discuss the best way to
prepare for the SIGGRAPH conference in San Diego - how to get the most
out of the conference, what to pack, how to plan your week. Hear about
the differences between this conference and ones in previous year (for
example: Have you heard about the first international FJORG! - an
iron-animator event - competing three-person teams of CG animators will
forgo sleep and multiple staged distractions for 32 straight hours. Their
goal is to resist the distractions and meet the deadline for creating
the best character-driven animation the world has ever seen.)
Share your past experiences with first time conference attendees and
learn about how to get involved with the ACM SIGGRAPH Professional and
Student Chapters Committee at the conference (we need volunteers for the
Professional chapters booth!). For those of you who will not be
attending the entire week or cannot attend at all, network with the group and
arrange an information exchange after the conference.
DC_SIGGRAPH invites all SIGGRAPH participants - past and present - to
take part in this event. The event will be held Thursday, June 21, from
7 – 9 pm at the BAE Systems. BAE is located at 8201 Greensboro Drive,
Suite 1200, McLean, VA 22102. Directions to BAE Systems can be found
