View Full Version : Mental Ray Help with Final Gather

Hello all
I'm working with maya for some time (I'm a former MAX user) and when rendering with final gather i'v noticed a strange phenomena:
(Using MR Phisical Sun &Sky) the renderer computes the final gather points- showing a preview of the scene lighting which looks great and after that while completing the rendering a "second layer" appears (much cleaner of course) but with lower contrast and saturation..
I'v looked throug all the FG properties but I can't find whats causing this..

Any help?
(If I'm not clear enaugh I'll post a screenshot).

I believe FG is computed untonemapped and it doesnt tonemap until it reaches the rendering phase (that 'second layer'). The tonemapping algorithm is what is changing the brightness contrast at that point. Adjust the mia_expose node.

You might need to gamma correct textures in your scene.
