Title: Call of Cthulhu
Name: Marc Simonetti
Country: France
Software: Painter, Photoshop
This is the cover art for the french edition of HP Lovecraft and A Derleth "Call of Cthulhu".
I tried to make a dramatic illustration, quite classical in the way the character was represented.
Made with painter 9 and Photoshop cs2 in about 3 days.
Any comment will be welcome!
Thanks.

Very well done!
Amazing use of contrast and color to aid the depth - like the composition. I especially like the texture on the tentacle wrapping around him. I think you could've worked on the background "face" a bit more but who cares, image is great and better than anything I could make :)

Beautiful scene. And I do love those evil eyes :) (Maybe some more cropping is needed to improve the composition)

I like the handling of the brushwork, not too tight and not too loose.

Thanks a lot my friends, I really appreciate.
Livingrope and velinov: You're references to me, and your works are a great source of motivation. So thanks lot!
I'm a big fan of Lovecraft's book for a long time, so illustrating one of its books was an awesome task, and I really appreciate that you like it. :)

Wow that is incredible! You captured the spirit well! Nothing like Cthulhu!! Awsome work! That must have taken eons.
Oh also, I'm assuming you find the Cthulhu mythos interesting. Just to add to it a bit, do a search in google or any other search engine for Bloop. A sound recorded in 1995 I think from the deep sea. :D

a very monumental piece... the way the giant octopus emerges from the darkness is both powerful and mysterious, well done kemar!

The octopus aspect is fantastic. I'm afraid of that poor man. Amazing color and mood I can feel the fear. 5 stars from me.
One question...
which was your favourite tool to develop this picture painter or photoshop?
or which software you were more comfortable and spend more time?
Sorry about my terrible english. :)

Thanks a lot for all those kind replies.
Arizaga: I used photoshop mainly to find the colors and composition at the beginning and to finish the picture (adjusting levels, and colors balance), but the big panting job was done with painter.
Naetron: thanks a lot that's exactly what I wanted to express. :)
swidehlm: I will pay attention to that: It sounds really interesting.
thanks all again.
