Hi folks,

I am preparing to make a vinyl floor for a hospital.

Peculiar material, vinyl floors, it seems to me.

Very low gloss properties it seems to me. Look how broad those specular highlights are.

But it still have a fairly high level of reflectivity it seems:

Wear and tear seems to lower the glossiness (and possibly the reflectivity) even further, but doesn't seem to disturb the specularity of the material.

Any other material properties any of you would like to point out about this kind of vinyl flooring? Any of you, who has done vinyl floors before, and could add a few pointers to what makes or break the look of vinyl?

Sitting here fiddling with the shaders in Max. I guess Oren Nayar Blinn might be the better choice for vinyl floors. Any opinions?

If you have Mental Ray you can use a MRPhong or SSS and Blur the reflectivity. Post your image here so I can see it- I'm curious- I use Maya so I supose it might be a bit different but Blinn isn't too bad for linoleum floor.
