Great piece! My only 'crit' would be that maybe the background could be slightly more blurred, it's a bit simplistic compared to the foreground. Other than that it's an amazing work.

Yo!

Must say Excelent work there Guro. This kind of subject and annatomy I've been striving to manage to draw myself for some time. My only Crit on the piece is on the wings. I've been studying them for a while now. Folded the way they are the 'elbow' parts on the wings of the lighter angel looks a bit too curved like there's no joint there really.

On the darker angel the wings are very much jointed looking. or maybe it's just from the angle we view the Darker Angel the curve of the limbs is more apparent. I'm no expert. just the first thing I noticed.

I'll watch birds alot and just the way the lighter Angel's wing is folded down would make the 'elbow' region of the wing to be bent more. as if they are about to snap out and catch air again.

Or maybe angles don't need to flap thier wings. they're Celestial beings, maybe they just levitate. Anyways, that's just my little crit. The work is Stunning in all aspects. I hope my efforts look Half as good anatomically. I just need better human references.

great job, this work is amazing, I really enjoy it

the only crit I have is the border, and where the angel's sword leaves it, I find that kind of distracting, also that the sword points towards, and leaves the top right corner. Maybe if you changed the angle, and showed the whole sword's tip.

just a thought

anyways keep rocking :)

Generally, you are right, but the thing is that anatomy of angel's wings is not in filed of anatomical logic at all. In other words, there is no place for wings to be fixed on his back, and wings won't work there (there are no bones and muscles for that).

Here is my try of angel's anatomy according to logic :)

The only thing I can talk about is why did you decide to make the sword part of the edge or format of the paper. I am talking of the up-right corner. I don't like that. I think it is not helping the overall composition of your amazing piece. In the left side the wings are cut by the edge but that looks realy part of the comp.

Just that...

Wow that is Interesting. And yes, monsterous. Me and the Gnarly Cranium.... (you really should TM that one BTW ;) ) have been flinging Ideas on just such anatomy back and forth for Kicks. I have to wonder where you get your references for your work. It's quite impressive.

Jaer-- Uhhhuh, bow NOW, after you typoed me GNARKY, and expect to get away with it-- I saw what you did! :p

I've always thought that if a humanoid form had wings, they ought to attach somewhere lower on the middle of the back, closer to the center of gravity... otherwise the winged person in question would never be able to fly with their body horizontal, they'd always be hanging there vertically like something had em by the scruff of the neck, with wings awkwardly trying to flap downwards on either side. But that's just me.

Guro-- Only thing I could think of to recommend changing on the pic is to make the wings look more like they're catching air-- everything else just plain rocks! Really like the medieval style it's got going, all that crosshatching, the original sketch must be huge-- if you did color it, how would you go about doing that to keep the style? Something watercolor-ish maybe? I'm curious to know!
