Did anyone notice the title of the 4th film after Toy Story 3, "John Carter of Mars". Wow...I can't imagine what that will be like. Very different from what Pixar has been doing.

Well I think someone did in the 70s or something and again in 2005 but it never got off the ground.

I love Pixar. They're style and storytelling are top notch.

I just don't want to see a Pixar version of John Carter. I looooove that book. It needs it's grime. I love that the book is what it is historically. That John Carter is a confederate soldier in the beginning fighting Native Americans and the way that his understanding of the Native Americans (or lack of) is mirrored in how he deals with the Martians.

I don't want to see any of it toned down too far. I realize people can't walk around nekkid the whole movie, but Deja Thoris isn't going to be the same character that she's become through the years if she isn't raw and sensual. It'll also be a shame if Frank Cho's not involved in the design process.

If it's kidded down too much, they should do DCs Adam Strange instead. The stories and settings are similiar but Strange is more kid friendly. I want a gruff John Carter, without historical zeitgeisting of his situation.

I'm sure it'll be excellent, just not the same as the source.

Kerry Conran, who directed Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was supposed to direct it, then bailed. I heard the director of Elf was also listed at one point as a director for it but also bowed out. I read the books (there are 13 in the series) as a boy and from what I remember then it was amazing. The story just kind of ends in the last book though.

All I can say is I can't wait, and the teaser for Wall-E was sweet and short of course but looks like it will be a lot of fun! To see the little guy get up and move was awesome.

I can't wait to see Ratatouille again!

"Pixar's "John Carter" movie is going to be live action. I shit you not."

I thought that was being handled by Disney, not Pixar and was thus going to be done at an outside studio? At least from what I read a while ago, but could be fuzzy on that.

That would make more sense but I read somewhere (wish I could remember where) that Pixar wanted to expand beyond just animation so they were going to do the John Carter movie live action. Kind of strange though, so who knows?

This character looks an awful lot like the one you see on the Star Wars ride at Disneyland. Pretty interesting, given the story's synopsis, R2D2 meets City Lights.

And that's interesting about Toy Story 3. I thought that movie had been scrapped, or maybe it was just the story idea, which I believe was something about Buzz lightyear going to Tokyo.

Yep, I read as well that Brad Bird announced his next film will be live action AT Pixar. So it wouldn't be all that surprising if John Carter is live action at Pixar too.
