i have been doing a lot of work on my laptop of late, and the lack of real estate drives me batty. does anyone have a good layout they would like to share (screenshot)?

just make sure to use the CTRL click on the Handle (dotted line or box depending on palette or manager) This will collapse the palette or manager. click again on the new collapsed handle to expand.

is that just an R10 feature? can't seam to get that to work in 9.6

Yes, that was introduced with R10

ahha. i reason to maybe switch over. i have had R10 for some time and cannot get myself weened off 9.6

Besides the collapsing of the toolbars with clicking on the handles, you could also place the toolbars in tabs and place them at the bottom or the top of your screen, when you hover your mouse over the tab row, and scroll with the mousewheel you switch tabs.

(attached a small example from my "buttonrow")

yeah, i think the thing that bothers me most is the materials pallet.
