How do you get the best quality z depth along with an alpha information out of LW for compositing in programs like AE not with X dof or digital confusion which are LW plugins

I read there is an AA problem with LW renders and there is some kind of trick, I am not even sure if this trick is even necessary any more

Can someone give me the steps to render out foreground objects in LW so I can use a compositer to put these object on a different background and apply a dof effect

I am more interested in doing this in a sequence of images or animation

Thanks

Hi,

I'm not the best person to answer your questions, but I'll try.
For the Z depth channel get this PDF (http://www.dgmedia.kit.net/RPF.pdf) .
For the foreground rendering I think you have to put your foreground objects in a separeted layer and do a render with them only.

Sorry for not helping much,
See Ya!:)

Render your images as RPF or PICT format .These Formats save more than pixel data and they have a 3D data info.

bring them to AE and use 3D effects like
depth of field or fog 3D....

Easy?...I think it is done
