I WANT TO ENTER BUT I'M A NEWB TO EVERYTHING

If I get this correct, we are to make a short animation?
I really won't get that far, but I'd like to try to integrate some space designs into the background image like several are doing...

I'm really into architecture, and this challenge, though I won't be able to complete it, is exactly what I'd like to do eventually...

Now, I'm completely lost...I would greatly appreciate any advice, tutorials, or advice that you wise people would teach me...

I'm being suffocated by my newbness, help!!

1st things 1st, get a backplate of at least 1000x540 to qualify for entering ;) make sure you pick one that lends itself excellent for integrating Alien Structures [wide vista] with some mountain sides one it.

ones you get that, we'll continue ;)

Ok, I have it, here it is:

It's kinda a large file size, didn't want to compromise on quality at this point...

Ok, step one complete, step 2?

btw, thank you so much, Equinoxx...

AT LEAST?/?

Does that mean that it could be bigger?

I shrunk this down quite a bit, I'd much rather use the large pic, if possible?

Here's the huge picture: http://learncg.f2o.org/Trent/untitled.JPG

thatīs a good plate to start.
now try sketching the structures into the background to get i feeling how it will look.
think about composition and layout. try to position your Alien Structure in a way that itīs easy for the viewer to find a "focus". donīt scatter it over the whole background...
btw: welcome to the challenge.

should I sketch with paint?
Or print it off, sketch on it, scan it?

I don't use photoshop, mostly fireworks...
I just never got the hang of photoshop...

you know what they say . . . Big is beautifull baby ;)

couldn't hurt to set it all up in as high as res as possible. scaling down is 'never' a problem, scaling upwards is . . . so i say go with the uber-res pic . . . nice plate btw

Ok, I have the picture, (thanks for the compliment, equinoxx)...

nOw, i HAVE to sketch little aliens on it?
Does it have to be a large, established colony?
Or could they be unpacking? And maybe still exploring?

I'll go read the challenge rules...
