Hi gang,

I'm trying to print a small brick storage room in wire frame. I need a basic set of plans for county inspection. When I do a print it looks horible. The lines are not clean and many are faded(loose detail).
It's all, off course, in 3d. I say that because I have found if I make the objects in basic 2D primatives it prints ok.
I don't wish to redo each view in 2D.

I have a free copy of IntellaCad 2000 I have used to import my file as a DXF but that's program is a whole nother world I don't have the time to explore.

Thanks all for your help.

If you are using the standard "wire" in max it will beome faded in some places because of the lightning, maybe you just have to turn of shadow casting for the moment.

You can create a custom wireframe texture if you want to.

1. Create a blend texture

2. Material 1 (The color you want of the wires) Opacity 100, make it "Face map" and "2 sided if you want all wires behind aswell to show.

3. Material 2 (The color between the wires, opacity 0 if you want it to be completely transparent. Try having opacity set to 20 and play around with some colors. make it "Face map" and "2 sided"

4. The mask for the Blend texture should be set to a "gradient ramp" In the bar where you set the colors to fade into each other. The one to the very left (set it to white 100%), and the one on the very right should be set to 100% black. Create 2 more points between those by clicking, the 2 newly created should be set as close to each other possible, the one a the the left 100 white and the one just right of it 100 black. Like this image:

Turn off Tiling for the mask in both U and V.

The wire will look like this:

If you want to get rid of the non antialiased look try turning on Supersampling under material1.
