Hi everyone,

I've created a script that some might be interested in which does Growl notifications (http://www.growl.info) on OS X machines when batch render jobs complete (on any platform).

I ended up using the NetGrowl (http://the.taoofmac.com/space/Projects/netgrowl) python library and MEL to glue it together as a post-render action.

This is my first Python/Maya script, and I'm sure there are much cleaner ways to do things, but hopefully someone will find the foundation handy and maybe build on it.

th_mayarender_growler 0.0.1 is available here (http://www.treyharrell.com/v3/?p=68)

I was expecting for functions in Python to work like global procs in Mel, and the only way I could figure out how to invoke the script as a post render was via a python("import xxxx"); MEL hook... not exactly the cleanest way to do things.

I'd love to clean the script up and add command line flags to report per frame, per job etc but the documentation on actually using Python in Maya is pretty sparse with real-world examples at the moment.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

In the meantime, play with the code all you like, tear it apart and make something cooler if you have the inclination!

Cheers,
