hi all!

just did a quick editor test render on an second winxp 64 bit partition. there seems to be no speed improvement at all. is that possible?
what are the advantages of the c4d 64bit version?

thanx :)

The speed advantage of CINEA 4D 64 bit compared to 32 bit is between 0% - 10% depending on the scene. The biggest over all advantage is the vastly higher available RAM (http://www.bonkers.de/cinema/cinema.html#memory).

...ever tried to render a scene that uses 5gigs ram in xp32..., it is only possible with xp64... so Xp64 is becoming increasingly important if you render with an external renderer like finalrender, cause the rendere copies the entire scsne and loads it into the ram.

ciao Jan

p.s. ... did you notice the speed increase opening cinema..., I used to be able to read a few lines of text on the net while openig cinema..., ...not anymore with xp64

SP3 of Finalrender is comming as an xp64 version...

The internal renderer copies the entire scene and loads it into ram too ;-)

...as far as I understand it FR doubles that load, doesn't it?

with huge scenes we did not run into ram problems with the cinemas internal render and xp32, but as soon as we used FR we had to go into xp64 to render the scene...

all c4d users get this benefit...not just 64 bit users...something to do with caching or some technical junk...it just a little maxon ingenuity at work.
