Hi Tomb:

Well done on getting this piece finished  I really like all the little additions that you've made - especially the little flying insects buzzing around. The foliage is great to look at too.

Congratulations on a great pic! :applause:

Very nice composition.. The background and all that, and the depth of field. The stance of the girl is nice. The model is cool. Her looks are tempting, tho I wouldn't touch her with a 10 feet pole, just in case, you never know how she might use that spear.

Tho it isn't (what a start of a sentence!), the right forearm looks shorter to me because of the way she holds the weapon. There is little perspective because she is far, so if she held the weapon with a bit more flexion of the wrist, it would be more comfortable for her and the viewer would know that the forearm is looking a bit towards.. Hmmm.. What am I saying. You may just forget all about it :-)

Also the fold on the left arm looks a bit odd on the side because I think it is too much bent upwards. from that angle it would look better if it was closer to a straight line (I mean it does have a curve, but from the angle we see, it should look straight(er))

With such detailed and high quality work, the criticism is also about small portions of the work. I really like the picture and I won't blame you if you don't like my suggestions!

Yes, I agree. I'll try to work in these improvements and others, like the pose and DOF some time in the future... Thanks

I really like the trees and folliage as well as the general composition of your image. Do you have any wires to show ??

I also noticed that you are in sydney and using Maya and MR.... do you have any spare time up your sleeve ??

If so msg me off the list as I would love to talk about a live action project I am invovled in at the moment !!!

There is lot to learn from your wires for me, thanks. Your compromise between flat planes and real objects for the shot is really nice.

-ad- Tomb, you also check out my wip head :-) I've started to texture it. -/ad-

Hi,

Hey! Very cool :)

She looks very natural :) (pose, shading)

Hmmm... Why wasn’t any picture-link from main page...

It's very nice. I like the idea, pose and composition. The girl also appears to be modelled very well. Although I don't like her elbow joints. And her arms and face seem like they're either too shiny, or the specular is too even.

But what really confuses me is just how big she is supposed to be? All that foliage looks more like tiny household plants than giant jungle foliage. And those leaves (?) on the ground look somewhat like wood chips. Thus furthering my impression. So except for the background, I get the impression that she's about eight inches tall. Which, by the way, would be really cool. Except the background doesn't match.

Then again, nobody else has mentioned this, so maybe it's just me? :hmm:

Fantastic piece. The model and environment are great. I love the texture she has on her. Gives her a very out in the jungle "dirty" look. Her clothing is also very well done. I personally think the legs could have gotten alittle bit more detail. They look a bit too straight and undefined. It could just be me or the pose that she's in however.

Overall an awesome work.

the stuff in the background looks too blurry, if it is just across a river like i'm reading it.

I was going to say the same thing about the scale...it DOES look like the girl is about 8 inches tall.

I think whats giving that impression is mainly the depth of field. There's way too much of it. Generally in photography the closer you get to your subject the more DOF you get. And if this is a human sized person then the amount of DOF is killing the scale. Maybe shrinking the size of the leaves beneath her feet and adjusting the lighting a bit would help too.

But other then the scale issue....amazing job. Very nice :) The modelling is very impressive.

Heh heh - I was wondering why people were still enthusing about this weeks after you initially posted the final render - its cos you've added stuff to it and done a completely new render to boot. Yeh, certainly looks great to me! I think I prefer your more recent render because of the whole atmosphere and feeling that it conjours up - plus we get to see more of the girl.

Good job!

Hi!

She looks really nice in that night shot!!

I really like the lighting, but there are some things I'd like to mention:

The flame (tho the shape is very convincing) doesn't effect the lighting of the stick, and the stick looks as if it doesn't hold a big flame on top, and is only lit by the blue. Maybe you can make a trick with luminosity if you don't want to mess with the count/position of the flame light.

Are there shading problems esp. on the arm holding the stick?

Btw, I have finalized "my head", almost :)

very nice model
she has a pretty face
my only comment is that the arms look weird
maybe too cylindercal like tubes

Great feedback, thanks.

psumo I'll work on putting more definition in the arms for my next model. By the way I love your work!

i to didn't notice the face in the rock until the wires
the blue light on the one side of her makes the side of the women the focal point so i dunno i guess you have really perceptive eyes to notice the face in the rock at first glace

again tom great work i really like where you went with her have you rigged her for a possible animation in the near future?

Hi Tomb,
I too must admit I never noticed the faces until the wires! and yet I thought I was careful :) ! It maybe your decision to hold them back , but it is mostly the lighting and positioning that obscures the face rocks. My attention if you leave the girl aside, went mostly to the rocks behind her, as an ordinary viewer.
