hope someone can help as scrolling UVs looks pants!

Scrolling can look good, if you add a little randomness to the UVs, so the texture "squirms" a bit as it scrolls through. Also found it helps to add a flickering glow pass to the shader, some bounce ligthing on nearby surfaces, and some splashes/bubblepops.

Remembered another trick, and that's to add a heat-refraction effect above the lava. Used to great effect in Doom III. Pretty simple to implement.

To do a simple bubble pop just make a shpere, animate its scale and position and set the texture to scroll down. Make the top most part of the texture a transparentcy that looks like broken lava. Time the UV scroll with the size down keys and your good to go =)
