Try the PolyTrans product by Okino graphics http://www.okino.com/ or another program ~Exploration 3d( I have forgotten who makes it though). If you don't want to dish out cash you may just have to export you models in a geo. format Max can handle and then texture and animate all over again.

Try the FBX import/export file from Kaydara, it works pretty well and it's free !!!

They install fine you just dont seem to know how to use Maya. You probably have to manually load the plugins in maya. Main toolbar> Windows> settings/preferences> plug-in manager and check the loaded an autoload check boxes. Or next time RTFM or contact aliaswavefront.

Right Hemisphere makes Deep Exploration. Im testing that one at work right now. Solidworks to MAX. So far it's pretty good, and it has a really nice Publish to HTML feature that I really love, but the dang thing keeps crashing so Im a bit worried.

It IS possible that he's doing it correctly and it isn't working for him. We ALL have bad computer days

Hey dont shake your finger like that at me. :annoyed: **packs his car and leaves dallas for austin.** j/k
In all honesty it probably is what i said cause most plugins do not load automatically in maya. And given the fact that neither worked either means he is using badly cracked software (which is just lame), isnt installing them correctly, or needs to take some time and do some reading. I know I was a little rough, but to say they are not working right especially if all options havent been exhausted is a little immature and silly.

From in Maya > window > settings/preferences > plugin manager > OBJ Export
Then when you go to export your file you will now have the .obj as an option in the "save as" dropdown.
Go to habware http://www.habware.at/duck4.htm and download the .obj importer for max
Unzip it to your X:\3dsmax\plugins folder
From in Max > Customize > Plugin Manager > obj importer
Choose File > Import > bring in your .obj maya file
:) easy as pie
