excellent to see you're in man . . .

that's looking like an interesting backplate

BUT . . . [there ALWAYS is a but ;)] if you look at the general direction the light is coming from, then that would be the topleft/back

so the rockpart in the bottomright looks like it's recieving light from the right/front . . . might want to look into that ;)

Thanks Equinoxx ! :) I was wondering what was wrong ;) It's good to have some crits like this ! :)

I'm gonna change that, before doing anything else. :)

I dont know i knew the light sources where off but thats what i liked about it gives it this kinda sureal image with a twist... thought it would look even better with all the vfx added in:bounce:

thats cool, it almost looks like a painting of the world during pangea, rather than a collection of photographs. some spots are streaked which gives it a very stylized look. i think alot of the shading is off and yet it still looks good because it all is in the same style. keep it  maybe just some corrections on the edges, some spots are very blurred.

You seem to have pretty amazing depth of field there ;) A lot of it is in very sharp focus, but the background is very out of focus... Makes it feel a bit strange...

thanks to both of you. Yea right about the blur..

maybe better on this one :

if i was at home, id circle the trouble spots but i dont have access to photoshop right now so heres a rough out:

the bottom left rock looks like it has steam coming off of it, if you look at the edges, the edges are fine but everything behind it that touches the edge is blurred, it doesnt make any sense, looks like someone got smudge happy or something :)

/edit i just noticed the fusing of the top right rock...big smudge spot there, try using some stamp tool to fix it up, gl!:wip:

cool however it seems choppy like i can see scan lines or soemthing as it zooms in!

It gives the impression that the camera doesn't move but that the landscape is enlarged so it should give a zoomin effect... Did you did it this way or is it just the render?

MikeRhone

I agree. There is no feeling of depth to the shot. You would almost be safer panning across the shot instead of zooming in.

Also, there are some strange lines in your clip. How are you rendering it? I see you're using Sorenson 3, and that usually is a nice quality.

The landscape itself looks great as a still shot though. I love it in fact. You work so fast Im sure by the time I send this post you'll have finished this one. :surprised

I also like the plate very much. I don't think the motion looks like a zoom, but it doesn't quite look like a dolly either. It's hard to put the finger on the problem. Looks to me like it has something to do with the foreground hills and the ground moving as one.

rolhionjs
03-21-2003, 07:21 AM
yea you're all right about this zoom... it really s**ks... Well i'm gonna change that :)

Thanks for your construtive critics ! :)

Equinoxx

just thought i'd poke in my nose, checking progress and all ;)

love the backplate. and I take it the anim is made using OGL preview or something ?? cause if so, then THAT is the reason the pixels slide allover the place ;)

but . . . the progress is looking good so far :)
