Anyone played with the Yafray connection in wings yet?

I would love to see some renders.

Yafray is at http://www.yafray.org :). I think most of the images in the art gallery were made using the Blender exporter, though I think a couple were made in Wings, brought into Blender, then exported. As far as I know at this early stage in development, the Blender->Yafray exporter (YaBle) is the most advanced and usable.

Hi! Some tips on the subject, courtesy of your new neighbors (the Blender 3D forum right around the corner).

Hi, if anyone is considering to get his/her models to Yafray or any other render engine by using Blender as a bridge, then you should take a look at this thread.

http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50105

For doing all this you don't need to master the Blender interface, just the very basics: loading, saving, a little about light setup, another little bit on performing test renders and how to run a scrip within Blender.

For the last, check this:

(jump straight to the post by 'dani', third from the top)

Hope this get you started

See ya.

i got some info off the Yafray forum, and there is a guy making a plugin to use with wings 3d instead of importing the models into blender, when it is ready he will give update on how its working. Jut go the the Yafray forum and look in the Exporters thread and look for What about wings thread and u can get a little information from there.

This plugin by ratmapper is already integrated in wings core, so if you have Yafray installed on your system, you should have an option File | Render | Yafray , and File | Export | Yafray.

hey thanks for that clacos, but i dont think it works with the 0.98.06c version of wings because when i had it installed this option wasnt there, but now that i have 0.98.08 it is there now, i have to say this version has alot of new features althought as they stated on there site its not stable, so u can expect alot of crashed from it, but version 0.98.07d seems ok.Me gonna go get that now.

that isnt saying it isnt stable
its saying that it hasnt been tested yet so it might have bugs
and unless bjorn went back and patched 98.07, it still has bugs too

I just keep with the latest version
rarely does a major bug come up
and when it does wether bjorn is on vacation or what he fixes it asap

cheers

Hmm, Kray looks pretty good and it sounds as though they'll be adding a GUI at some point too! Worth keeping an eye on.
