It was on CTV during survivor and before that american idol, if I remember correctly, and on global, I remember seeing like once or twice last week during primetime tv hours, it's making the rounds out here on the T.O stations for sure.

Man I hate trailers with lightning fast editing like that, doesn't let you catch a good glimpse of things, that poor girl was jumping about like a mad bunny just to catch up with the trailer director's editing.

Yeah! I mean-- don't they have anything COOLER that they can show us during those parts of the movie? They have to edit and trim and carefully hone down a film to get in just the right scenes to pull off the story and the impact of it all-- especially in a short. Final Fantasy didn't have any 'butt time'.

It was a 'mature' CG film and it was a gigantic flop.

It's more a case of nerdy sci-fi alienates a large section of the audience (ie women), let's face it t&a sells far better.

It's just human nature, what's to mature to? Guys will always like staring at hot chicks, and it'll always be there, hopefully not in a completely gratutitous form but there all the same.

Good stories will sell. Regardless of what genre it is. Look at Star Wars! Nerdy sci-fi but heaps of females I know love it. Notice no t&a. Spirits Within flopped not because it didn't have any 'butt time'!! it was a weak story that wasn't told well enough to capture alot of people's imagination.
In my opinion, when film makers have to resort to sex to sell something (the easiest and most unoriginal way to sell), it just shows their lack of creativity.

Whatever man it's quite obvious that shot was not in there because they chose to "have fun with it." Sex sells that's why it was in there to catch the attention of males. It's a gimmick the oldest gimmick in the book. Just like booty shaking rap videos, or those damn spy cam pop ups. I'm as hormone driven as the next guy, but man it's annoying as hell to see crap like this all the time. Even in the case of this trailer I have to say that butt shot was really cheesy, and completely took me out of the trailer, because the concept was so ridiculous. Then again I may be seeing it out of context of the story who knows. I just wish people would get their sex out of my Sci-Fi.

I have yet to download the trailer but I will do later on today. About the sex/sci-fi situation regarding this trailer; it does sound to me, a little strange to start putting something like that into a serious plot. At times a movie, however long it may be, if its designated for a certain type of genre and done well, movie makers do not have to resort back to the traditional sex type calibre because I’m sure the movie would be good otherwise.

Although, I could be wrong, once Ive watched it, ;)

Naw, it's not as bad as all THAT. I'm just tired of it. I mean... it's EVERYWHERE. I get this stuff pushed in my face almost constantly, whenever I watch movies, play video games, or turn on the TV. I have no problem appreciating female beauty in an artistic sense, I'm just getting pretty darn oversaturated and running out of patience! :) Plus it's often pretty insulting and offensive. There's a lot of hype for "Final Flight of the Osiris" in this forum....

But if it turns out to be really, really bad - and I mean sucks donkey balls - how many of you will admit it?

I mean, some people here seam to have already "decided" to love it, before they've even seen it, as is the case with a lot of hype.

I personally think it looks extremely interesting, and I'm looking very much forward to it - but if it sucks, it sucks.

Hi there,

It's not like everybody will think it's great and so on. Just on this forum I think there is more of an appreciation of the time and effort that goes into making a short of this calibre.

Sure it might not have a good story, or some parts you might not agree with morally, but the resaon this is such a great forum is, that alot of people can appreciate how difficult and how talented the artists have to be to produce something like this, where on other forums and people it might not be appreciated as much.

Well, the lighting, textures, modeling and mocap were good.
Story was really well done. The editing could have been better to establish spatial relationships of the characters within the Osiris.

For me, watching the Sentinels was the best part. Their tentacles were mesmerising and their animation was really smooth.

The animation of the characters was very much like Final Fantasy. Strange facial deformations, mediocre lip-synch, stiff upper bodies and over-exagerated hip motion. Obviously, it's a consistent style that they're going for, and I give them credit for sticking to their guns, I just don't think much of it.

I think I would have liked watching the mocap sessions for the dojo sequence. It looked like a lot of really good acrobatics involved.

I do have to say that the textures and lighting were, for the most part, quite good.

Overall, it was enjoyable to watch, and it was a good addition to the lore of The Matrix. Wasn't earth-shattering, but then again what is?
