View Full Version : Dynamics culling system - wish list
Aikiman 06-04-2007, 09:17 PM Wouldn't it be awesome if Maya had some sort of culling parameter that would determine at which point it would stop solving for certain dynamics? What I mean can be found in Realflow where you can create an adjustable volume and when the paricles exit that volume, they disappear and are no longer calculated therefore speeding up solving time. Sure you can kill particles after a certain lifespan, but not rigid bodies, then again you could keyframe the active on and off but if you have a hundreds that would require some mel.
This would be one of those god send wish lists for me.

if u usethe spreadsheeteditor u can key hundreds on and off very easily.
i know what u mean tho about slow dynamics . try Nima plugin....its free implementation of PhysX for maya.
its really really fast and very easy to use: www.feelingsoftware.com (http://www.feelingsoftware.com) [i think]

I've seen Nima and like what I see, unfortunately it's not ported to OSX platform so thats out of the question for me. The spreadsheet idea wouldnt work because you wouldn't know which ones to key unless you checked their ID and that could take forever if you werre solving for 100's of object.
