how can i export my animation from maya to max?

hey mate- Im no expert in this field, but I would be looking into the FBX format. That has a bunck of options for exporting animation between the two. personally I have only used it for meshes, but i think it has a feature to bake any deformation to the verticies, and can transfer simple rotation, scale ect. ( this is only as far as I know. )

Just export fbx out of max with default settings (or edit accordingly)
then import fbx into maya
~all vert weighting, textures, and animation that is keyed/baked/plotted to the bones will transfer.
~i've never had success transferring fk/ik rigs though
