View Full Version : Grouped objects and Dynamics
IntensiveDesign 06-03-2007, 01:36 PM I'm a bit new with Cinema 4D. When i make a bouncing ball using Dynamics it works like it should. But now I try to do the same with a grouped object. So i have 4 balls, group them so I get a "Null Object". But if I do "Rigid Body Dynamic" on that "Null Object", the balls won't do anything.
How do I let the grouped object bounce?

just make a rigid body tag to your first sphere, then ctrl + drag it into other spheres ;-) and make all under a solver....and if you want to speed up the calculation (seriously) disable the viewpoint and make bake the solver "excuse me i can't remember it but its the tip to make the simulation as a keyframes"
NB: never forget to use hypernurbs instead using a high poly object
and excuse my bad english...

Thanks for your reply, but i still don't get it to work. I have 4 balls grouped under 1 Null Object, and I do Rigid Body Dynamic on that Null Object within a Solver and Gravity Object, but nothing will happen then.

What I want to do is make a Jeep with four wheels, which response on rough terrain like sand. I want to move the car form A to B and use the dynamics to let the car bounce on the rough terrain. But how can I do this at it's best?

hi
i think dynamic affects only vertex, so you must use a spline object or a polygon object...not a null object

I don't think I'd try c4d Dynamics for the tire bouncing scenario you've described. (However, I wish you success) Some Constraint Tags along with Kai's tip from the Maya vs C4d Character Rigging thread: "delay effector set to deform points or polygons, and in spring mode, will be a jiggle deformer" would probably be the first thing I would try.
On the other hand, I think I've heard of a relatively new c4d plug-in for simulating car driving. Perhaps a search will yield results.

Yesterday i tried the maxon softbody ball falling into a bowl. I then added a floor, and wanted the ball to fall onto the edge of the bowl and onto the floor. But the ball just went through the floor. The only way i managed it was to connect the floor plane (poly) with the bowl, ie made 1 object, then used selection tags to add colours. Putting the floor poly as a child into the bowl, and other setups just did not work for me. But then again i did not read the manual, as it was a demo of R10.

Choose for Full Collission for the floor and the ball.

Choose for Full Collission for the floor and the ball.
Thank You, i will try it.
