View Full Version : Problems with textures in viewport

My machine specs:

WinXP running on:
Asus A7M266 main board
AMD 1,4 GHz processor
512 DDR MB Ram
Asus GeForce3 V8200 64 MB
3DS MAX 4.26

My problem is that when runnning MAX in OpenGL/Direct3D mode
I cannot see any of my textures in the viewport. They do however show up as soon as I switch to software mode.

The only way I can get them to show up in OpenGL mode is by using Microsofts OpenGL drivers from XP. Unfortunately they make MAX run so slow that it is close to impossible to do any kind of work.

I have tried with NVidia Detonator drivers for XP versions 23.11 and 28.32.

Seeing as I can get MAX to run with textures in the viewport I'm pretty convinced it's a driver problem, but if anyone has experienced anything similar and found a solution I'd love to hear from you.

And as an added bonus this is happening right up to a deadline.... So now I've learned to never upgrade to a new computer in the middle of a project....

Have you got a link to where i can DL it? I cant find any 'cept the most recent one on NVidia's site.

Cheers,

I have the same problem with the textures in the viewports. i tried all nvidia drives but that doesn't work. after some month of frustrations i finally found a solution :D .
There's a patch called softquadro which turn your geforce into a quadro so you can use the elsa maxtreme drivers. With these you got your textures in the viewport back and a lot of other benefits like increased speed, realtime fog preview, etc.
Check it out:

You're BRILLIANT!

Worked like a charm. I had to run the Softquadro program on the 23.11 detonator drivers, then install those, and then install the Elsa Maxtreme drivers for Max 4.x

:D :D :D :D

Thanks a million. Now i'd better get back to work. Wasted a LOT of time because of this . ;)
