Title: Gladiator
Name: Xiang Wang
Country: China
Software: BodyPaint, Maya, Photoshop

As pretty self explanatory, I want to portray a gladiator image with "never-surrender" spirit.

I worked on it for one month during my spare time and really put a lot of effort on it. Any comments and suggestions are highly appreciated!

Not bad; the face is pretty good overall, though the ears look a bit flat. The leather across his chest looks pretty convincing. His arm guards are pretty good as well.
The pieces hanging off his belt seem to be floating in the air a bit, just as the armor on his shoulder also seems to be floating a bit and not hanging naturally.
His pose looks a bit stiff, and his skin looks plastic rather than supple. He could use more definition in his muscularity. His skirt is not draping down naturally, and looks like a computer generated procedural texture, and not like cloth. Dirty him up more - He's been through war.
Try a more interesting background/pose with a better lighting set-up that sets a mood and draws our eyes to the figure. Perhaps have him hunched over-coming out of the shadows with the blood dripping from his sword, as well as, more cuts and scars on his body - really selling that "never surrender" spirit and that he just had a life and death struggle - barely triumphing over his mighty enemy.
Having him look directly at the camera with more expression would also help involve the viewer.
The human figure is one of the hardest things to model - keep at it.

Huge head. Textures are quite good. Did I mention the size of his head?
