AGGHHH server to busy when I was posting..
Ok ill try to recreate what I said.
AWESOME WORK!!
The fur looks cool.
The animation is exceptionally kickass too.
When he goes up on his hind legs for the roar, he goesd back and down a bit, and that is causing his right leg to pop a little bit.
Nothing too extreme or that I notice on first glance..
I think instead of having him run in, roar then run out you should have had him run in, and roar at something, then run out.
Like a cube or sphere.
thats just my personal preference though...
for you next animation you SHOULD do with this character, I suggest you make him fall in love with a kitty.. heheheh
here man
You deserve it.

My brother and I are very impressed with your animation, especially the furs. I've never used MAYA for animation yet, or furs. Does it take a long time to get the furs looking right? How about the rendering time?
I really liked the animation and the atmosphere you've created couldn't have been better. :scream:
Great work!

Hey thanks guys!! the fur was and is a pain in the asssss!!! maya has this funny system for doing it! plus its next to impossable to get anything to look good with out a good renderer, only can do so much with the maya renderer.

Heya Jason!
nice animation.. got a great hand/foot pattern going! sweeet! :)
There are only a few things which were sticking out to me as a bit odd.. the timing on the yell seems off.. either he's moving too fast into the yell itself, or he's anticipating the yell for too many frames.. it makes it so his bellow doesn't have the fear impact it should. Also, he's just a weee bit light when he comes down.
otherwise, nice work! would love to see it on a lighter bg!

YO J! now that you pointed it it dose seem a bit off..DOH! consider the animation change done and done,.....on a lighter backround ;), man I wish maya had good fur dynamics!
thanks

Animation is sweet as! One thing though, when he goes up on his hind legs, he looks a bit too human, like he normally walks on them.
How long have you been using Maya? Where do you work?
By the way my final Student piece was Called 'Big Monkey', and it had a large monkey chasing two men in banana suits. But it was quite frankly kak so i strongly encourage you to do it better!

Very very well animated my friend. Great job capturing the movements of the gorilla. Very good job on the fur as well. Has the right amount of "sheen" to it when I look at it. Love to see more. Only thing is that the overall scene is alittle dark, but that's just me. I still could see everything and loved it. Great Job.

YO thanks!
jonnymac - Ive been using maya since it came out and before then I was using Power Animator for about 2/3 years, and I was working at MillFilm till they closed down, but been very busy at this new place doing all the effects for a bbc thriller
Grayscale- its amazing what jumping around infront of a mirror will get you ;) , yea Im re-rendering the whole scene with a lighter backround and some animation changes, should be a bit better me thinks
thanks again
