jason_basciano 04-04-2002, 09:29 AM I would appreciate any comments people would have. In particular, any ideas on adding veins.

wieeerd. I like it, although something about it is bugging me... I think the arms seem to short or something... it almost seems like this is the anatomy of a Neanderthal or Homo Erectus <chuckle> rather than a human... but I don't know. I'd have to see it with some sort of skin overtop. You're going to do that (for me) right? :D
keep it up!
oh and in that last pic he's staring at me. I cowered.

Great work. I'd love to see wireframes of some of that muscle work.
Proportionally it appears that the legs are a little short or maybe the entire torso is too big for the arms and legs. The abs seem really big as well.
I think you've got everything modeled accurately, a little fine tuning on the proportions and you'll have a perfect model.

Great work man
What software are you using?
I dont now but i think something wrong in proportions too.
In my opinion is that legs are too sort
Actually a human body have a proportion of 8 heads.
the normal is the length of the body wil be the same as 8 heads and i think your body have a proportion of 7 heads.
But instead of this opinion muscles and bones are great , really very great.
:applause:
the skeleton and thus the whole body look really apelike right now. everything's too short and stocky, except the ribs, which are really too thin.

Yeah, and you know, now that I take a closer look, null's right, the ribs really are too thin. They also look rather rounded, whereas human ribs are more like flattened tubeys.
Normally this might not be a bad thing, but since you're subject is the "human anatomy" I really think you should take a closer look at some anatomy books, especially at the bone structures. For instance, the sternum and xyphoid process of the ribcage is definitely not shaped as rectangular as you've got it.
On a lighter note, those muscles look really sweet. The texturing is great! Is that procedural?

Thats pretty good....If your looking for a decent anatomy book...try burne hogarths "Dynamic Anatomy" its a great book....if you cant find that..try Bridgmans "Complete guide to drawing from life"...yeah its a drawing book...but its got a lot of structural images....anyways nice work =)

really good, seen you demo reel in CDIS :) you must have good nerves doing that. i do my dude right now and already bored as hell with him and just tring to finish off as fast as i can.
yah legs are lil short. arms hmm well maybe if legs extended...
ribs start on the back and end on front are lil too hight and should be lowered, espcially in front. overall it's some crazy patience and hard work there bud

comin along good -great start on the textures.
for a short critique:
-the textures are a bit too 'hyperreal' (for lack of a better word). Try and desaturate them some and mabey take down the specular just a tad.
- also, the anatomy is off. at a quick glance i noticed the legs are too short (the theighs look ok, but the legs seem stubby) and the torso is too long.
other than that, SWEET!

Totally! I love all of Hogarth's books, especially Dynamic Anatomy, but also "Dynamic Wrinkles and Drapery" and "Drawing the Human Head".
Another great one is "Drawing the Living Figure" by Joseph Sheppard. This one isn't a help for anatomy, per se, but it's great in that there are plenty of different poses, and the book will then go in depth as to what parts of the internal anatomy are causing the surface of the figure to look a particular way.
