This HCM challenge is just too good to miss! I had a hard time trying to decide what to work on. It was either Boba Fett, Boba's Slave I ship, Clone trooper, a droid, any of the countless alien races...the list goes on and on. :D Finally decide to go with Jango since no one else is working on him...not yet that is. :)

I hope to actually get some time to work on him. Here's one of the refs I'll be using:

Finally have a chance to start on this! :bounce:

Decided to go against the popular "start from feet" workflow :D and start on Jango's blasters. A bit high in the polys for a prop, but I can always go back and lower the edge-count.

Hmmm...why does everyone start with the feet?

Blame it on PKT (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=208&t=501864) for getting it started. :D

I hope I haven't don't any harm
Anyway, very nice start, that is a superclean mesh, I dig it.

Nah man, just kidding around! :D

I like very much how your Boba is coming along.

Alright, major modeling on the Jango blaster is finished. Just have to add a few minor details. It's not an exact replica as I discovered some disrepencies with the original film version AFTER almost finishing it, but I decided against changing what I have now else I'll never finish this on time. :D

Crits welcome. :)

Well sometimes I start at the head, somtimes the feet, and to be honest, I find working upwards means your warmed up when you get to the head so you work more efficiently.
Anyway, great work on the blaster... I look pretty real.

Thanks Airflow.

I've been busy with work, but I do have some free time now. Managed to throw out a render of the blasters. Just threw on some simple shaders...nothing fancy. So sad that is all I have to show for my entry.

I hope to start working on Jango himself soon. Got to build a basic human form first to gauge the proportions correctly.

Since we're required to show lots of wip images, I'm putting this up. Starting to box model a basic human form to build on top of. It helps with getting the proportions right...well at least that's the plan. :D

Love the pistols. If you dont have the time to finish Jango, you could put the two Pistols in a display case or box...:)

Good idea, but I'm determined to finish him...even if I don't meet the deadline. :)

My internet service has been acting like crap lately. Now that it's working somewhat I can upload the finished Jango helmet. Still don't know what I'm going to do with the bottom opening. I'll figure that one out AFTER I get his body modeled.

Been working on Jango on and off and a LOT last night. Ugh! Still have lots to do:

Torso armor
Leg and foot armor
Gauntlets
Blaster holsters
Jet pack
Basic rig and pose
Final clothing detail to be sculpted AFTER posing
It's going to be a miracle if I get this one finished on time.

How you getting on? It looks simple, but its not, he has very detailed components, I feel like I have built almost 2 characters with the detail level I have been working at.. But you seem to be moving through pretty quickly...

This is as far as I got last night. Finished jetpack. Couldn't upload it last night as I had no access to internet.

As much as I'd like to finish Jango...this project is going on hold as I move on to the "Strange Behavior" competition. :)

It was a whole lot of fun and there are some awesome entries this time around. Good luck to those who finished on time.

Wow, thats a beauty, and I though my jetpack was difficult....
I kinda wish you had finished in time, It would have been good to compare the two models...

I agree with your catigories in the vote thread:

Best Sculpt
Best Polygon

Its always been something that turned me off about this challenge on CG Talk. Its a "Hardcore Modeling" challenge but yet those catigories are MIA. I think they belong there far before "Most Epic" model at the least. People should be recognized for killer topology and people should be recognized for killer sculpting just like Roberto added the in-organic catigory.

Just seems tough to have no kudos for spending as much time as someone like mannymation must have spent modeling those bandages when someone else might sculpt them in a quarter of the time and less headache.

Sorry for posting this in your thread but I didn't see a better place to put it without throwing off topic Robertos threads and since you put that...LOL... I put my comment here for agreement. Hopefully we might get such catigories in the next challenge...

Good points.
Well animals in motion are our next one.
I like your categories, but I would love to hear more about how you view them.
