I don't know if anyone remembers my earlier post on this, but I've been putting together my demo reel for graduation and I revised the lighting and shaders on this model. It was modeled in maya and rendered in maya with mental ray.

Here are some images in an alternate silver colour and lighting setup. Please let me know which one shows off the model better.

for some reason the proportions(sp) look off to me.

It seems that the car should be either A) shorter or B) wider

either way it needs to have a wider stance.

something about this render makes it look like these are tiny little toy cars... the they look blurred, and the specs don't look quite right.

yeah, it does look like a toy car, for several reasons.

First and foremost, the angle of the camera suggests the car is sitting on a table or something, and the dimensions as mentioned before are off.

Second, the car lacks the detail of the real thing. That usually makes the difference between looking CG or like a toy, and looking like the real thing.

I think it can be fixed... you've come this far, keep at it. :D

Ok thanks for the comments so far. I'm pretty sure the proportions are actually correct as i've actually driven this car and modeled it from blueprints on honda's japanese site but I'll check again. As for the detail, what is missing?

It might be the reflections in the paint, and it would also make it look less like a "toy" if you showed some close ups, because there is good detail, especially in the wheels. :)

Yeah, i seem to agree. the images arent very sharp, and the cars to look sorta like matchbox thingers. With a bit of tweaking, it can be so muhc better. the model is very cool!
