Title: Custom Chopper in My Driveway
Name: Darin Beard
Country: USA
Software: Lightwave 3D, Photoshop
Some old school chopper style mixed with some modern touches. My goal here was realism. I built everything piece by piece. I wanted to convince my brother that this was a real bike. I used different modeling techniques in Lightwave such as metaform, spline patching, point modeling. Some textures were created in Photoshop and some are procedural. Comments are most welcome.
UPDATED: After receiving some good comments I have made a few updates including reworking the tire texturing and completely rebuilding the driveway as the texture was weak. I made a couple of other minor texture tweaks based on comments, also. Thanks for the comments and help.

It looks so cool, good job.
Maybe the tires can be made better:thumbsup:

The bike looks good. I kind of agree with the tire comment. The tread seems to be painted on rather than actually being indented. The engine (back jug) seems awfully dark in comparison to the other parts of the bike. Still I like the image a lot.

tires look too soft. the concrete resolution isn't high enough in the foreground. everything else looks great to me.

Remember to check the depth of field (whether intended or not): the concrete and the rest of the picture is a bit blurred while the chopper looks pin-sharp. The only solution you have is to either blur the back of the chopper or to sharpen the foreground of the scene.

Thank you for the comments and suggestions.
The tires were my main issue because I thought they were too light. My monitors are getting old and I can't get the contrast to be good anymore. But I did consider them a weak spot.
I also know of the concrete blur limitation in this image. It's due to the picture from which I had to create the texture. I had to stretch it because of the perspective in the original photo. I really need to take a new one that is straight away from the driveway and re-render it. There is a little DOF on the bike to try to blend it a little but if I put enough on it to match it would be way overpowering and I would get a lot of comments about too much DOF. :)
I do plan on tweaking this image and updating it over the next several days. I hope you folks will come back and check it when I do. Thanks again.
