View Full Version : invisible hand
pizovic 05-30-2007, 11:19 PM Hi guys I am planning to shoot a small trailer or a short film its about this guy who is being attacked by invisible force my question is I would like to have the effects where we can se this invisible force grabbing him almost like invisible hand, but we se the marks on the skin. I was thinking to achieve this grabbing effect by hawing some body hands covered in green screen and later in post just remove it would this be the right way of achieving this effect. Any comment would be appreciated.

an invisible hand? just shoot the person normal... you can have all the invisible hands touching him/her that you want! yikes, I'm being touched by an invisible hand right now!
no, but seriously, a greenscreen hand is just going to give you a huge hole in your footage that you'll have to plug in with something, and that will be difficult.
I would use some sort of invisible wire or clear plastic rigging of some kind, make your life easier.

Maybe I should rend invisible man, heheheheh
Wire and clear plastic nah wont work I need the finger mowment on the skin, what about shooting actors on the green screen and compositing them in to live background

if i were you, i would shoot the actors normally, then in your 3d program, make a CG arm and matchmove it to the real arm. Then do your indents/displacement in 3d, light the fake arm harshly, and render out the highlight and shadows passes, and composite them. You may also want to apply the plate as a projected texture and render that as well, for the actualy skin displacement. Just roto it over with a soft edge ONLY where the indents are. No greenscreen should be used in any part of this, there's nowhere you could put anything green or blue that would this easier.
