Haven't posted in a while. Here's one of my favorite Marvel Comics charaters, good ol' Shellhead. Photoshop 7 and Maya for the background.

Man... you are amazing Jami! Very impressive.

How long did this ironman take you to create in photoshop? My little brother always wanted to learn how to create these types of 2D artworks. I am just wondering how long have you been creating these types of images? Must be years now, right?

Make sure you do post up some more of your images.

Took about a week. I used a soft round brush at various sizes, smallest for the sharp deatails. I kept the opacity of the brush at 100% cause I was feeling lazy. New technique for me.

I was inspired by Malachi's pinup stuff over at http://www.liquidwerx.com (Liquid Werx).

Thanks so much for the support. I think I'll try more stuff in this style.

Nice work, i like pose he looks like he can come alive. The only criticism i can say is that you might want to add some more shading to the wire skin on his legs, it looks to bright compared to the darks of his leg armour.

Good Job :applause:

Righton. I loved Iron Man growing up, but lost touch. Nice to see him again. Good look to his suit also. You should try modeling him in Maya.

Ah cool! Tell Mat I say hey. James and I wanna play Halo 2 as soon as it's beta :P And thanks so much for looking at my stuff. It means a lot to me.

No wires for Iron Man, but lemme see if I can dig up the horrible sketch I did.

I actually did this for a cover submission, but someone on the schedule handed in a sketch with a pose that was almost like this so they're gonna go with his version instead. That's the way it goes. Here's the sketch. I shrunk the hand a bit for the final version. I slapped the sketch on a layer, turned down it's opacity and used it as a guide for my painting.

I'll see if I can dig up some other stuff that I did for this thing, but I must sleep now.

great Iron Man.

When I see your work I am reminded I never pick up an Iron Man comic unless an amazing artist is involved like Kareon Grant or Whilce Portaceo (I proably misspelled all of them, my bad). I know it sounds bit shallow, but I read comics to be inspired.

I wonder who are your favorite Iron Man artists? Just list them off

wires of the cubes, lol!

I liked Keron Grant's stuff on Iron Man quite a bit. You could definately see his anime influence in there. I also loved UDON's stuff on the Avengers Assemble (though I'm kinda biased). I like Michael Ryan's version of Iron Man, he seems to have a good sense of story telling and all. But it was Kia Asamiya's issue 400 cover that really inspired this piece.

Whoa, you're so talented!

I love this, though I'm not so sure about the background. I think you need a better contrast with the background and the foreground (make the background a little darker perhaps ? )

Keep it up

humm...I don't recall his joints being all filled with tubes like that. I never saw the original comics, just the TV show.

Nice painting anyway!

looks great!! there's a slight anime-ish feel to it IMO... the torso reminds me a bit of Evangelion for some reason... good job compositing the 2D with the 3D background as well

Looks geat! Unbelievable plastically for 2D.

Not sure about the sky. I think it does not catch up with the high quality of the rest of the image. Forgive me, but it looks somehow like fractal generated (maybe photoshop?) or like a big low res jpeg.
I dont know how i came to this, but i think it is because this is the only part of the image which has no real depth, no shadows within the clouds itself, which makes it look a bit flat.

Hahahahaha!

I wonder if they'll ever make a good Batman or Superman movie? Batman 1 was the last good one.

If you check the ramblings on the internet's worst site, aintitcoolnews.com, you'll see lots of news on a Superman movie, and even a Batman vs. Superman movie. I for one think Batman vs. Superman COULD work if done right. If you watch the OLD Superman cartoons from the 40s, you'll see that Superman seems to leap for long distances rather than magically flying, and you'll see that he finds it dificult to do certain things like lift cars, etc. (Even though he lifted the back end of a truck when he was a toddler.) I like the idea of a superhero being frail... Not to the extent of the way the X-Men are portrayed, as victims in most cases, but in the way that the original Batman movie with Keaton showed him off to be, etc.

Crossing my fingers.

Incredible! You took an old favorite and brought him back to vigorous life. Big props for that man. The only thing that bugs me a bit is the lack of contrast, with such a big as life character as Iron Man, and the level of detail and style you did. I would've liked to see him a bit more vibrant (color wise) right not it looks a bit washed out, just a bit though maybe it's my monitor  Anyhoo :)

You have received the CGtalk choice award .Please feel free to display this image anywhere you like! Incredible work.
