View Full Version : Mirroring custom attributes?
ThE-BirD 03-16-2003, 10:24 PM I'm setting up some character rigs and I've wired the hand controls to a point helper at the wrist through custom attributes and reactor controllers. I'd like to be able to set up one side and simply mirror the attributes to the other side with the IK setup. Of course the new mirrored bones are still connected to the original point helper. Is there any way of reassigning the mirrored bones to the new mirrored point helper without resetting their parameters. I hope this all makes sense:insane: Any input would be extremely appreciated:) Thanks

no, i think you'll have to reassign them again.
i don't know about you but if i mirror the bones i usually get troubles (max collapsed).
not to mention mirroring them with the custom attributes and the wired parameters.
i think even when i mirrored the CA helper without the wires assignment i got alot of troubles (when i changed the value in one helper it changed on the other one as well)
but hey
maybe that's just me

I've been able to mirror bones with wiring successfully, though the wiring ends up backwards and you have to account for it in the wiring dialogue by putting a " - " before the expression.
I don't know if custom attributes would work. Also, keep in mind that if you have any contraints, you should un-constrain before you mirror. That will definitely have to be done separately becaue it will try to access the same contraint as before mirroring.
I doubt reactor controllers would mirror at all either. I've only gotten wiring to work properly when mirroring.

Thanks for the input. I think your right about mirroring the reactor controllers , it's too specific, but it's nice to hear about the wired parameters. Thanks a bunch:)
