Im trying to get a reasonably photorealistic look on a big ship
but the materials I make looks to much CG I want it to look
more rough and realistic (but not to old cause the ship is supposed to be newly built).
Ive provided 2 of my drafts together with a photo of a real tanker
and a cg picture that shows more the way I want it to look.

Left: Photo
Middle: CG the way I want it to look
Right: My drafts

Please help me with tips on how to make it look more natural.
And what parts are most important to work with to get it as
photoreal as possible.
I also would like to create splashwaves in a easy way but it
doesnt seem possible.

I use Cinema4D setup and Vue for environment but I like tips about
texturing/lighting etc in general.

Any help is highly appreciated
Thx for listening/ AquaStealth

I guess you have an answer to this by now but I would have thought that adding a bit of noise and hence texture to the surface would do the trick for you.

what you need is more detail in modellingand texturing/ reflection map and better lighting in scene
