I have 3Delight 1.0.3 installed.

The shaderdl seams to work, but when I try to render one of the example files I get an error:

3DL ERROR: Cannot find display driver "file".

Can anyone help?

What you could do is open a command prompt, type 'set' (w/o the quotes) and see if a variable called 'DL_DISPLAYS_PATH' is listed and if it points to the correct folder.

Is it possible that you have whitespaces in your path, like "C:\Program Files\3Delight"?

I dunno about 3DL, but Aqsis, for example, doesn't like this.
Try installing the renderer to a different dir, e.g. "C:\RenderMan\3Delight".

I also wonder why you get so many errors about displays. How many 'Display' calls do you have in your RIB? You probably know that every 'Display' call after the first must start with a '+', like:Display ...
+Display ...
Finally, what version of 3DL are you using? -- the current is 1.0.3.

Did you get the new version 1.0.3? When I installed it on my Windows 2000 system, the path for displays was wrong, it was set to [3delightPath]\lib when it should be [3delightPath]\displays. Also it somehow wiped out all of my other paths, I have to reinstall a few things now. At least I'm pretty sure it was 3delight that did this, it doesn't seem possible it could be something else. I forgot to email them about this, I should go do that now...

the version is 1.0.3

I have no whitespaces in the path it´s all under e:\3delight\
The pathes seam to be right when I check them with "set" in DOS

I tryed BMRT and it works well, even with ShaderMan there were no problems. I´ll also try aqsis.

I am absolutely new to renderman, so I also don´t know anything about RIB-files. I´ve got to learn a lot. :-)

I just cleaned all my paths an re-installed 1.0.3 -- everything is ok -- in particular the displays path.

Tobix: if that's possible, mail me the RIB, I'll have a look what may cause this.

I tryed one of the example files. with BMRT it was no problem to render them, but 3delight not.

I got 3Delight working, after I copyed the missing display file into the folder of the rib.
But thats could not be the solution.
I´ll check the whole path stuff tomorrow, but I should be right.
