Hi Friends,

I want to ask that which will be the best books for the beginning of DirectX Programming. It should cover every step from game engine to final output. If there are more then one book please list them in reply.

I heard that many games were made with VC++. Should I learn VC++ separately? Which books will help?

Thanks!!

VC++ is a development environment, not a programming language :p Have a look at Visual Studio Express (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/), it's the learning edition of Microsoft Visual Studio and includes VC, VC++ and XNA.

Have a look at Tricks of the 3D Game Programming Gurus (http://www.amazon.com/Tricks-Programming-Gurus-Advanced-Graphics-Rasterization/dp/0672318350/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-5422574-3148755?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1180293721&sr=8-1). It's a bit outdated where DirectX is concerned (OK, it's 4 years old) but should still be a good resource.

Also have a poke around at GameDev.net (http://www.gamedev.net) and IGDA (http://www.igda.org/).
