View Full Version : VFX: Little Exploasion
zuhuhu 03-16-2003, 05:59 PM Here is an exploasion which is made with afterburn. i tried to make a photorealistic one, but as you will see. i have a lightning problem here. So help me with your critiques.

It looks very fake for some reason which I can not point out. I'll watch it then see if I can figure it out ok? feedback soon.

could not download video.
pics look fake for me too cause they have this black edge shadow or something - looks like bad keying - did you use alpha? and colors are kinda strange as well. Could you plz provide bigger pics? :)

i editted the first post now it is downloadable.
i didn't use alpha . i am sory about that but i can't send a bigger image becouse i took the video with a handy cam and while captureing it to the computer its resoliton was small . im very sory about that but if you want i can provide a bigger image of the exploation !

ok now i see... :)
my points:
1.Dynamics:it is too slow/even speed - look at real explosions - they start really fast
2.Dynamics:car moves-explosion should inherit same initial vector or something
3.Dynamics:no gravity - make it heavier, some parts fall down etc
4.Rendering:blended not very well - render with alpha
5.Rendering:colors dont fit - something seems even green to me in your explosion - pick colors from video footage, decrease saturation
6.Rendering:everything fade away too fast
