Does anyone has some experiance with using a renderman compliant renderer like BMRT or 3delight (just to mention 2 of...) with 3ds max?

Google found me DoberMan, 3ds2rib and of corse MaxMan (lite).

Can you recommend one of them?

MAXMan + BMRT work well together

I agree with Ctrl-X. Maxman seems to be the way to go. With a little bit of tribulation, I was able to get Maxman working fine with BMRT and AIR. The flexlm licensing can be problematic and taking a look at my thread "Polygon Cracking" in the "Lighting and Rendering" area on this site will save you some pain.

Once you're up and running it's worth it. Nice little(or big) .rib files are produced for you with no hassle. With Air and some of the other less supported renderman compliant renderers, you really have to take advantage of the user defined RIB statement box provided by Maxman.
At one time, I was able to use Doberman with BMRT on max4, but I had to get a new hard drive and I couldn't get Doberman to work again. If you want to build your own script I would suggest looking over the Doberman code and modifying it to your needs (w/ permission of scripter).
